The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) rescued a five-year-old girl and apprehended her cousin for sexually exploiting her. The TGCSB Director, Shikha Goel, disclosed that a 19-year-old suspect was detained in connection with a Child Sexual Exploitative and Abusive Material (CSEAM) case. The Child Protection Unit (CPU) of TGCSB uncovered the incident after analyzing evidence from the CSEAM tipline, suggesting the parents were unaware of the abuse.
This marks the second successful rescue of a minor girl victim by TGCSB in 2026. The TGCSB’s CCPS Headquarters identified and apprehended the accused individuals in both cases. Director Goel highlighted that in both instances, the perpetrators were closely related to the victims. In this case, the accused, Mohammed Fahaad, the victim’s cousin brother, was arrested.
Mohammed Fahaad, a second-year degree student residing in Chota Bazaar, Golkonda, Hyderabad, has been identified as the accused. Following a detailed examination of a video shared through the tipline, TGCSB confirmed the accused’s identity. The accused, upon interrogation, admitted to the abuse, which occurred on the terrace of the victim’s house during his frequent visits. The accused’s electronic device has been seized for further forensic examination.
A case has been filed under Section 67-8 of the IT Act and Sections 15, 3, and 4 of the POCSO Act, leading to the accused being remanded to judicial custody. The rescued child has received necessary support and her parents have been provided with counseling. Director Goel emphasized the importance of vigilance in entrusting children’s care due to the hidden nature of child sexual abuse crimes, often perpetrated by individuals known to the family or victim.
The TGCSB continues its efforts to combat such crimes through advanced technology and targeted investigations. Director Goel warned of stringent legal actions against anyone involved in harming children.
