Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, emphasized that Hyderabad is competing globally in attracting investments, talent, and enhancing quality of life. The state government, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has allocated ₹20,000 crore for Hyderabad’s development in just two years. Vikramarka mentioned that significant portions of this fund have already been utilized, with ongoing projects in progress.
He noted that this unprecedented allocation for Hyderabad’s development marks a historic milestone for the state. Specific allocations include ₹1,950.52 crore for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), ₹12,500 crore for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), and ₹4,365 crore for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).
Vikramarka praised the merger of 27 urban local bodies with the GHMC as a groundbreaking decision, enabling uniform civic services and integrated planning within the Outer Ring Road region. He highlighted Hyderabad’s rapid growth and investment appeal, attributing it to years of institution-building and the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the government’s focus on transparent, accountable, and people-centric governance to build on past successes. He underscored the importance of balanced urban development accessible to all residents, transforming Hyderabad into an integrated metropolitan city rather than a collection of isolated affluent areas.
Investments totaling over ₹7,032 crore are being channeled into the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure Programme (H-CITI), including major flyovers, underpasses, and road widening projects. Various initiatives across the city aim to address traffic congestion, support economic growth, and enhance connectivity, benefiting diverse segments of the population.
Vikramarka assured that Hyderabad will remain a key hub for employment, innovation, and global investments, with a commitment to ensuring inclusive development. He stressed the significance of prioritizing people’s welfare, especially vulnerable groups, in the city’s growth plans. The government is actively working on comprehensive infrastructure projects to enhance flood safety, climate resilience, and sustainable urban development by 2047.
