The Telangana government has given approval for Muslim employees to leave work an hour early during the holy month of Ramzan. This permission, granted by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, applies to all government Muslim employees, teachers, contract and outsourcing staff, as well as employees of boards/corporations and public sector employees in the state. They are allowed to leave their offices/schools at 4 p.m. from February 19 to March 20 to offer prayers, except in cases of service exigencies.

In a related move, the Director of School Education for Telangana has officially adjusted school operating hours during Ramzan. Starting from February 19 until March 20, Urdu medium government and aided schools, along with Urdu medium sections in parallel medium schools and DIET colleges, will conduct classes from 8 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. To compensate for the reduced instructional time, upper primary and secondary schools will need to work an additional day, while primary schools are required to extend their daily schedule by 30 minutes on two separate working days.

Additionally, the Andhra Pradesh government has also allowed Muslim employees in government offices and educational institutions to leave work one hour early during Ramzan. Minister of Minority Welfare N.M.D. Farooq announced that this relaxation will be in effect from February 18 to March 19. The facility extends to all Muslim employees across government departments, including teachers, contract staff, outsourcing personnel, and employees in village and ward secretariats – Swarnagrama and Swarnaward secretariats.

To facilitate religious observances during the fasting month, the government has issued formal orders to departmental heads and district Collectors to ensure the uniform implementation of these guidelines. Muslim employees are permitted to leave an hour before the official end of working hours to attend prayers, except in emergency situations.
