Tesla has introduced its initial in-mall electric vehicle charging point in India at Nexus Seawoods Mall in Navi Mumbai. The new station, situated in the B1 parking area, comprises eight chargers, including four V4 Superchargers for rapid DC charging up to 250 kW and four Destination Chargers for AC charging at 11 kW. This setup caters to the diverse charging requirements of Tesla users, providing both quick top-ups and extended charging options.
This move by Tesla is aimed at bolstering its presence in India’s expanding electric mobility sector. By strategically placing charging stations in places where customers commonly spend time, like malls and highway stops, Tesla enables users to conveniently charge their vehicles during their daily routines. Tesla’s Supercharger technology allows a Tesla Model Y to gain up to 275 km of range in just 15 minutes, enhancing the practicality of intercity travel.
The charging experience is seamlessly integrated with the Tesla mobile app, allowing users to locate stations, monitor charging progress, and make payments effortlessly. The Navi Mumbai station marks Tesla’s fourth charging location in India, with existing facilities in Gurugram, Delhi, and Mumbai. With this addition, Tesla’s network now encompasses 20 Superchargers and 14 Destination Chargers across major cities.
In addition to the charging station, Tesla has established a pop-up store in the mall’s main atrium. This space provides visitors with the opportunity to explore Tesla vehicles through guided tours, test drives, and interactive product demonstrations. Tesla’s expansion efforts underscore its dedication to constructing a dependable and accessible charging infrastructure in India, promoting the wider adoption of electric vehicles.
One of Tesla’s key offerings in the Indian market, the Model Y, is currently priced starting at Rs 59.89 lakh, with home charging solutions also accessible to customers.
