At least three individuals lost their lives, and one person sustained critical injuries in a tragic road accident on the Dewas-Bhopal Highway near Nevri Phata in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when a car carrying four youths from Gunai village in Sonkach area veered out of control, overturned, and crashed on the roadside.
The impact of the accident was so severe that the vehicle was completely destroyed. Three young men, identified as Shubham, Pradeep, and Mohit from Gunai village, lost their lives on the spot, with two of them being brothers. The fourth occupant, Sachin, was seriously injured and was initially taken to a Dewas hospital before being referred to Indore for advanced medical care due to his critical condition.
Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that the car was traveling at a high speed, leading to the driver losing control. CCTV footage captured the vehicle approaching the accident site at an excessive speed. Authorities are considering various factors such as mechanical issues or road conditions and have formed a team to conduct a thorough investigation.
Upon receiving the news, senior police officials promptly arrived at the scene, where the bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. The families of the deceased have been notified in Gunai village, and the police have initiated an inquiry, exploring all possible angles, including whether the driver was impaired by alcohol or fatigue.
Officials are urging motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and drive cautiously, particularly during nighttime hours. The Dewas-Bhopal route is known for heavy traffic, with similar incidents having been reported previously. Local residents are mourning the loss and are advocating for enhanced road safety measures, such as the installation of speed breakers, improved lighting, and stricter highway patrolling.
