Three security personnel lost their lives, and four others sustained injuries in two separate attacks in Balochistan province, Pakistan. In Quetta, two members of the police’s Eagle Squad were killed, and three were injured during a motorcycle patrol in the Eastern Bypass area. The attackers, using automatic weapons, targeted the security personnel, prompting a search operation by the police.
In another incident in Jhal Magsi district, armed individuals attacked the Kotra police station in Gandawah area, resulting in the death of one security personnel and injuries to three others. The assailants utilized rockets and heavy weapons during the assault. Authorities had been on high alert following intelligence about a potential attack, according to a senior district administration official.
These attacks come amidst a surge in violence against law enforcement officers in Pakistan, particularly in the border regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Recent incidents include the targeted killing of an assistant sub-inspector in Upper Dir district and the deaths of seven police personnel in a blast near a police vehicle in Lakki Marwat district.
