One of Tamil cinema’s renowned music directors, Ghibran, shared that working on the score for director Mohan G Kshatriyan’s upcoming period film ‘Draupathi 2’ allowed him to delve into distinct musical territories. Ghibran expressed that creating music for this historical film was a demanding task, requiring him to venture beyond conventional war drama themes. He highlighted that ‘Draupathi 2’ delves into various emotional and cultural aspects like pain, poetry, romance, revenge, and patriotism, offering him a platform to explore unique musical dimensions reminiscent of his past work.
The film, produced by Chola Chakravarthy of Netaji Productions in collaboration with G. M Film Corporation, has generated significant anticipation among fans. Set in the 14th century against the backdrop of Hoysala emperor Veera Vallalar III’s reign, the narrative portrays the valor and resistance of the Kadavarayas of Sendhamangalam amidst the Mughal invasion of Tamil Nadu. Notable actors like Richard Rishi, Rakshana Induchoodan, Natti Natraj, Y. G. Mahendran, and others contribute to the film’s historical grandeur and dramatic essence.
Director Mohan G Kshatriyan revealed that ‘Draupathi 2’ is a continuation of the first installment, ‘Draupathi,’ with a runtime of 2 hours and 39 minutes, predominantly set in the 14th century. The screenplay draws inspiration from the book ‘Moondram Vallalla Maharaja’ by historian Annal Kandar, incorporating historical events with cinematic interpretations. The film also boasts a proficient technical team, including Telugu dialogues by Samrat, music by Ghibran Vaibodha, cinematography by Philip R. Sundar, and choreography by Thanika Tony.
