Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha criticized the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) for allegedly misleading the public with slogans like “Thansa,” “Greater Tipraland,” and “Puila Jati.” The TMP, a tribal-based party led by Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, is an ally of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Saha accused the TMP of exploiting communal sentiments for political gain during a gathering in Kunjaram Para.
Saha expressed that if the BJP wins the Autonomous District Council government, there will be tangible development for tribal communities. He welcomed 700 voters from 203 families into the BJP during the event. The Chief Minister noted the TMP’s increased political activities but criticized their lack of consistency and clarity in their approach.
The BJP had previously tried to collaborate with the TMP, but due to conflicting stances, they decided to contest the elections independently. Saha emphasized the BJP’s commitment to tribal area development and criticized the TMP for creating confusion with their narratives. He also addressed allegations regarding Village Council elections in TTAADC areas.
Saha highlighted the ambiguity surrounding the term “Thansa” and criticized the TMP for using misleading slogans like “Greater Tipraland.” He reiterated the BJP’s focus on inclusive development and peace for all sections of society. The Chief Minister raised concerns about financial irregularities in Autonomous District Council development funds and urged TMP members to join the BJP for state progress.
