Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha stressed the significance of daily reading for success in life during the inauguration of the 44th Agartala Book Fair. He highlighted the role of books in enhancing vocabulary, writing skills, and critical thinking beyond academic textbooks. Saha, holding the Information and Cultural Affairs portfolio, encouraged individuals to explore diverse topics through reading to foster creativity and broaden perspectives.
Books were lauded by the Chief Minister as bridges between physical and mental realms, guiding individuals towards knowledge and truth. Saha underscored the transformative power of writing and its potential to evolve into valuable literary works. Despite the absence of visitors from Bangladesh this year, the Agartala Book Fair is anticipated to surpass previous records, with adjusted schedules to accommodate student examinations and maximize attendance.
Saha advocated for the revival of book gifting traditions, emphasizing the enduring value of books as faithful companions. He urged everyone to allocate dedicated time for reading, emphasizing the theme of this year’s fair as ‘Vandemataram’ in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. The event witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Tripura Assembly Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Pal, MLAs Mina Rani Sarkar and Dipak Majumder, and other prominent figures from the cultural and academic spheres.
