Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced a notable 8.20% decrease in the state’s overall crime rate in 2025 compared to the previous year. Speaking at the Tripura Police Week event, he emphasized the government’s commitment to leveraging modern technology for law enforcement and enhancing efforts to combat drug-related activities.
Saha commended the Tripura Police for their dedication and acknowledged their role in improving the law and order situation in the state. He praised the police force’s 150-year legacy and highlighted their recent accolade of receiving the President’s Colour in 2012.
The Chief Minister revealed a decrease in registered cases in 2025, with property-related offenses dropping by approximately 16% and crimes against individuals decreasing by nearly 14.54%. He also noted an 8.1% decline in crimes against women and outlined initiatives such as setting up women’s help desks in all police stations and deploying all-women police stations across the districts.
Highlighting traffic safety measures, Saha mentioned the launch of a Zero Accident Programme and the identification of accident-prone zones. He reported an 8.82% reduction in road accidents and a 13% decrease in fatalities in 2025. Additionally, he reiterated the government’s firm stance against drugs, citing a significant increase in NDPS cases and the destruction of narcotics worth Rs 1,641.89 crore.
The Chief Minister underscored the importance of border security, stating that Tripura Police serves as the second line of defense. He highlighted the arrest of illegal infiltrators and touts in 2025 and announced plans to modernize the cyber police station to combat cybercrime effectively. Saha also mentioned ongoing recruitment drives for constables and Sub-Inspectors to strengthen the police force.
