Under a somber sky at Dover Air Force Base, President Donald Trump paid his respects as the remains of six US Army soldiers killed in Kuwait were brought back. Trump, along with top officials and family members, witnessed the solemn ceremony. The soldiers, including Maj. Jeffery R. O’Brien and Sgt. Declan J. Coady, were part of the 103rd Sustainment Command.
Trump, in a navy suit and red tie, saluted each transfer case carried by the honour guard. The ceremony, known as a dignified transfer, took place at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. The event was attended by First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and other high-ranking officials.
The dignified transfer ceremony is a tradition to honor troops who died in combat or hostile incidents while serving abroad. Dover Air Force Base has been the main arrival point for fallen US military personnel since the Vietnam War. The solemn process involves the respectful transfer of fallen service members, not coffins, to their families for final arrangements.
Members of Congress, state officials, and families of the fallen soldiers gathered at the base to witness the dignified transfer. The soldiers, who lost their lives in a hostile incident in Kuwait, were identified as part of the 103rd Sustainment Command. The ceremony, which began at 3:09 p.m. Eastern Time, concluded with the call “Flight Line Dismissed” at 3:41 p.m.
