Turkey secured a spot in the FIFA World Cup after 24 years by defeating Kosovo in a close match. The winning goal was scored by Kerem Akturkoglu, sealing their place in Group D alongside Australia, Paraguay, and the USA. The game, played at Fadil Vokrri Stadium in Pristina, saw Turkey dominating early on with Kenan Yildiz testing Kosovo’s defense.
In the second half, Turkey took the lead when Yildiz passed to Orkun Kokcu, whose shot was deflected into the net by Akturkoglu. Despite Kosovo’s efforts, Turkey held on for the victory, marking their emotional return to the World Cup since 2002. In another match, Sweden defeated Poland in a thrilling encounter to secure their place in Group F at the finals.
Czechia also booked their World Cup spot after a 20-year absence by winning a nerve-wracking penalty shootout against Denmark. Michal Sadilek’s decisive penalty kick ensured Czechia’s qualification, setting up their participation in World Cup Group A against Korea Republic, South Africa, and Mexico.
