From Friends to Founders: A Green Dream Takes Shape

In the heart of Bengaluru, two childhood friends, Naren Raj and Ashutosh Ananth, decided to take a stand against the rising tide of paper waste. What began as a shared concern evolved into an innovative enterprise committed to sustainability. Their brainchild, Rescript, is now reshaping the way India consumes stationery—by creating high-quality, recycled paper products that are good for the planet.

After completing their business degrees and experiencing the corporate world, both founders realized they wanted their work to serve a larger purpose. A simple idea—sustainable, plantable stationery—sparked their journey. Their first major order, a Women’s Day campaign for a corporate client, proved there was demand for eco-conscious office supplies.

How Rescript Is Redefining Sustainability

At its core, Rescript is about minimizing environmental damage while maintaining product quality. All of their offerings—copier paper, notebooks, journals, pens—are made from 100% post-consumer waste paper. Their manufacturing process skips chemical bleaching, reducing both water use and energy consumption.

Here’s what they’ve achieved so far:

  • Over 500 tonnes of paper recycled
  • More than 9,200 trees saved
  • Around 18.4 million litres of water conserved
  • Over 431,480 kg of COâ‚‚ emissions prevented

Unlike many recycled products that carry a premium, Rescript has worked hard to keep pricing competitive. Their goal: make sustainability affordable and accessible to all.

Products With Purpose

Rescript’s product line includes:

  • Recycled A4 Copier Paper – Ideal for offices looking to switch to greener alternatives
  • Eco-Friendly Notebooks & Journals – Stylish, functional, and made entirely from waste paper
  • Pens Made from Recycled Paper – A small change that makes a big difference
  • Each product comes with the same durability and usability as its conventional counterparts—minus the environmental harm.

Vision 2025: Scaling Green Impact

Rescript isn’t stopping anytime soon. The team has set ambitious goals for the next few years:

  • 30,000 trees saved
  • 600 million litres of water conserved

But it’s not just about numbers. It’s about building a culture of conscious consumption—one sheet of paper at a time.

Why It Matters

Every sheet of paper that gets reused instead of discarded saves valuable natural resources. With India’s demand for paper growing, initiatives like Rescript are not just innovative—they’re essential. By supporting such ventures, consumers directly contribute to reducing deforestation, water pollution, and carbon emissions.

Rescript proves that real change often starts small—with a notebook, a pen, or a simple sheet of paper. But when those small steps are multiplied across thousands of people and organizations, the result is a tangible, lasting impact.
