Two individuals lost their lives, and over 15 others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident on National Highway 48, the route linking Delhi and Jaipur. The incident occurred near BDM Hospital in Kotputli when a private bus collided with a stationary trailer carrying steel rods, resulting in fatalities and injuries.
The collision caused severe damage to the front of the bus, leading to chaos among passengers. The bus, carrying around 22 passengers en route to Haridwar, crashed into the trailer due to the driver’s inability to spot it in time, resulting in the steel rods penetrating the bus.
The driver, Chandramohan (55), from Ladoli village in Nagaur, and a female passenger named Bichhu Devi, were killed instantly. Additionally, at least 16 other passengers suffered injuries in the accident. Local residents and authorities conducted rescue operations to assist trapped passengers, with the injured receiving treatment at Government BDM Hospital.
Omprakash, the surviving second driver of the bus, highlighted the lack of warning indicators on the parked trailer, which led to the tragic collision. The trailer driver reportedly fled the scene post-accident, and traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted but later normalized after the damaged vehicles were cleared.
Kotputli SHO Rajesh Sharma confirmed the restoration of traffic flow and mentioned that further actions would be taken pending a formal complaint.
