Two Mumbai Police Constables have been apprehended for a dramatic kidnapping and robbery incident that unfolded from Juhu to Dahisar, as confirmed by the Mumbai Police. The accused officers allegedly stole $10,000 from a delivery executive, while three other accomplices are currently on the run.
This event has once again sparked concerns regarding the reputation of the Mumbai Police. In the Juhu vicinity, two Constables, in collaboration with their partners, reportedly abducted a delivery executive employed by a forex company and looted him of foreign currency. The Juhu Police have detained the two policemen in connection with this sensational case, while the other three suspects are still evading capture. The stolen amount has not been recovered as of now.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Sandeep Shinde (33) and Gajendra Rajput (40), stationed at the Bandra-Kurla Complex and Jogeshwari police stations, respectively. Allegedly, both misused their uniforms and official positions to perpetrate the crime.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on March 25 around 2:00 PM. The victim, a delivery executive from a Bandra-based forex company, was in Juhu for a currency delivery. Near Juhu Circle, the perpetrators forcefully took him and forced him into an Ertiga car.
It is claimed that inside the vehicle, the victim was physically assaulted and threatened with false implication in a criminal case. The culprits then transported him to Dahisar, where they seized a bag containing $10,000 and continued their assault. However, the victim bravely raised an alarm, attracting the attention of passersby who alerted a patrolling police team that arrived promptly.
Upon realizing they were trapped, the suspects tried to escape. While Sandeep Shinde was caught on the spot, the others managed to flee. Gajendra Rajput was later apprehended at his residence in Thane. Both accused individuals face charges of kidnapping, extortion, robbery, and impersonation of public servants.
Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage, with multiple teams deployed to track down the remaining suspects. This incident once again highlights a crucial question: How can the safety of ordinary citizens be guaranteed when those entrusted with upholding the law engage in criminal behavior?
