Two police personnel, including a Town Inspector, were critically injured in a road accident on National Highway-43 near Bharaula village in Umaria district. The incident occurred late in the evening when a police vehicle collided head-on with a passenger bus from the opposite direction. The injured officer, identified as Chandia Police Station In-charge Jodhan Singh Paraste, was on official duty at the time of the accident.
Town Inspector Jodhan Singh Paraste sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the District Hospital in Umaria. Doctors later referred him to Jabalpur Medical College for advanced medical care due to his critical condition. The driver of the police vehicle, Saurabh, also sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the district hospital with a reported stable condition.
City Superintendent of Police Punnu Singh Paraste confirmed the incident, stating that the police team was on duty during the accident. Immediate rescue efforts were made with the help of local residents and emergency services to shift the injured to the hospital promptly. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, with initial indications pointing to over-speeding and possible negligence.
Senior police officials are closely monitoring the injured officer’s condition, and further actions will be taken based on the investigation’s findings.
