The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has announced a new initiative to include health insurance with tourist visas. This move is part of the UAE’s “transformational projects” aimed at boosting its global competitiveness in residency and travel metrics.

On July 22, the ICP revealed that tourists will soon be able to obtain health insurance while applying for visas online through the ICP website or application. The project is designed to ensure tourists have access to health care in emergency situations during their stay in the UAE.

The initiative will facilitate the issuance of health insurance for tourist visas via an electronic platform at the state level. This streamlined process is expected to simplify the application procedure for tourists and ensure they are covered for medical emergencies.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the ICP, highlighted that the project aligns with the authority’s priorities. It aims to support the UAE’s tourism sector by encouraging international visitors and providing them with essential health insurance coverage during emergencies.

The project is anticipated to enhance the UAE’s appeal as a tourist destination by offering added security and convenience to visitors. By integrating health insurance with tourist visas, the UAE aims to provide a comprehensive travel experience that prioritizes the well-being of tourists.
