Ukrainian and US teams are set to engage in further discussions in Miami on Saturday, focusing on security guarantees and Ukraine’s economic well-being. These negotiations aim to finalize agreements that may be signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos next week. The Ukrainian delegation, led by officials such as Rustem Umerov and Kyrylo Budanov, includes key figures like David Arakhamia from the Servant of the People parliamentary faction.
The previous round of talks between the Ukrainian and US delegations occurred last month. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the importance of securing lasting security assurances for Ukraine. He highlighted the imminent discussions on security guarantees and a recovery package, suggesting that these agreements could be formalized during the upcoming World Economic Forum.
Zelensky underscored Ukraine’s need for a continuous supply of missiles to bolster its air defense systems for self-protection. Notably, Ukraine recently received a new missile package to address the previous lack of missiles for several air defense systems in the country. In response, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed Russia’s support for US efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict through political and diplomatic means.
Peskov emphasized the necessity of active engagement from all involved parties for achieving peace, highlighting the importance of dialogue. He commended Washington’s initiatives in steering the Ukraine settlement towards a diplomatic resolution. Russia remains open to negotiations with the US, emphasizing the significance of collaborative actions from all sides to establish peace.
