Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to lead a significant security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi on Thursday. The meeting will be attended by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, senior officers from J&K Police, civil administration, CAPFs, intelligence agencies, and top officials from the home ministry (MHA). This meeting marks the first high-level security review session for the union territory in 2026.
The focus of the meeting will be on discussing a coordinated strategy to eliminate terrorists concealed in challenging, remote areas of J&K. Additionally, ensuring zero infiltration along the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border (IB) will be a key topic of discussion. The meeting will cover various other security-related issues as well, according to officials.
Key attendees at the meeting will include L-G Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Intelligence chief Nitish Kumar, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, and heads of all CAPFs and Intelligence agencies. The agenda will involve briefings by senior officers on the current situation, winter security measures, and the ongoing efforts to prevent infiltration and combat terrorism in the mountainous regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Security forces have been actively engaging with terrorists in encounters across Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur, and other districts in recent months. These operations have successfully thwarted infiltration attempts on the LoC and the IB. Intelligence reports indicate a waiting presence of terrorists on both sides of the LoC and the IB, potentially aided by the Pakistan Army and the ISI.
