The Khelo India Winter Games 2026 in Gulmarg, Jammu & Kashmir, will take place from February 23 to 26, as revealed by the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. This edition marks the sixth installment of the games, with Ladakh hosting the ice sports leg earlier.
Dr. Mandaviya expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event, citing the success of the previous phase in Leh and anticipating a similar level of competition in Jammu & Kashmir. The Winter Games aim to boost winter sports in India, providing a platform for athletes to showcase their skills in challenging conditions.
The Khelo India Winter Games have significantly increased participation and awareness of winter sports in India, transforming the country’s winter sports landscape. The event has paved the way for Indian athletes to excel internationally, with notable achievements in figure skating and ice hockey.
Gulmarg will witness competitions in Ski Mountaineering, Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing, and Snowboarding, with Alpine Skiing expected to draw the largest number of participants. The Indian Army and various states have shown strong performances in previous editions, setting the stage for another competitive season.
