Union Minister Bhupender Yadav led a high-level meeting to review Delhi’s air pollution action plans. The meeting aimed to assess progress and enhance the implementation of identified measures. Attendees included Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh, and Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, along with senior officials.
Yadav commended Delhi officials for their efforts in curbing air pollution and highlighted the enactment of a dedicated law in 2021. He emphasized the importance of long-term policy interventions over quick fixes to address air pollution in the NCR region. The meeting discussed various measures, including smart traffic management at congestion hotspots and promoting electric vehicles.
The Minister stressed the need for behavioral change and public participation to ensure the success of pollution control measures. The review also addressed industrial pollution, with a focus on shifting industrial estates to PNG and taking action against non-conforming units. Additionally, the meeting covered topics such as construction waste management, road development, and dust control strategies.
