Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, emphasized the significance of fitness in nation-building during the 69th Fit India Sundays event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. He urged citizens to join the Fit India movement and adopt active lifestyles to contribute to India’s development. Mandaviya highlighted the growing awareness about fitness among the youth, inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s message of Fit India and the necessity for a developed India.
Mandaviya stressed that the health of citizens, especially the youth, is fundamental for India’s progress as a nation. He encouraged everyone, particularly the youth, to participate in the Sunday on Cycle movement to promote fitness and a healthy society. The Fit India App, mentioned by the Minister, incentivizes sustainability and fitness by allowing users to earn carbon credits through cycling, promoting eco-friendly transportation and healthy living.
The Fit India Sundays on Cycle event featured various fitness activities, including yoga demonstrations, tug-of-war contests, and interactive sessions, attracting participants of all ages. Notable individuals like Pinki Jangra, a Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, and fitness influencers Dinesh Shetty and Sonia Sisodia were honored during the event. The initiative also included a ‘nukkad natak’ by the Raahgiri Foundation, focusing on State Youth Leaders, who collaborated to promote fitness and community engagement.
The event, supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and various organizations, aims to promote fitness across all States and Union Territories, involving a wide range of participants from different backgrounds. Launched in December 2024, Fit India Sundays on Cycle has garnered massive participation nationwide, with millions joining at numerous locations to embrace active and healthy lifestyles.
