Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia met Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh in New Delhi. Scindia mentioned funding a polo project in Manipur, emphasizing the sport’s cultural significance. He pledged full cooperation from the DoNER Ministry to address state issues and develop the Northeastern region.
Later, Chief Minister Singh also discussed matters with Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Singh, accompanied by his Deputy Chief Ministers Losii Dikho and Nemcha Kipgen, engaged in various meetings with central ministers. Dikho is from the Naga People’s Front (NPF) and Kipgen represents the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Kipgen, the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur from the Kuki community, discussed state affairs in the national capital. Singh also received assurances of financial assistance from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and cooperation from Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Meetings with BJP leaders and Union Home Minister Amit Shah focused on party and state-related issues, including community harmony and peace restoration efforts.
