Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram and Union Minister for Coal G. Kishan Reddy visited the Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara, known as Asia’s biggest tribal festival in Medaram, Telangana. State Ministers warmly welcomed them at the temple entrance, where traditional rituals were performed. The Union Ministers offered gold to the deities and spoke to the media, highlighting the festival’s significance.
Tribal Affairs Minister Oram praised the festival as the largest of its kind in India, comparing it to the Maha Kumbh of tribal communities. He mentioned the government’s support for the festival and the region’s development initiatives. Oram also discussed the allocation of funds for tribal welfare programs and educational institutions in Telangana.
Kishan Reddy emphasized the importance of the Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara, attracting devotees from various states for a month-long celebration. He detailed the joint efforts of the central and state governments in funding tourism and infrastructure projects in the region. Reddy announced the establishment of a Central Tribal University named after the festival, with significant financial backing and ongoing construction.
