U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has canceled the green cards of two individuals connected to Qasem Soleimani’s family, leading to their detention and removal proceedings by U.S. authorities. Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were apprehended by federal agents after losing their lawful permanent resident status. They are currently under the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Rubio disclosed that Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter, who were previously green card holders residing luxuriously in the U.S., have now had their legal status terminated and are awaiting deportation in ICE custody. The State Department highlighted that Soleimani Afshar is a vocal supporter of the oppressive and terrorist Iranian regime, as evidenced by media reports and her social media activity.
The State Department emphasized that while living in the U.S., Hamideh promoted Iranian regime propaganda, endorsed attacks on American military personnel and facilities in the Middle East, praised the new Iranian Supreme Leader, condemned the U.S. as the ‘Great Satan,’ and expressed unwavering support for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, designated a terrorist organization by Washington. Rubio affirmed that the U.S. will not harbor foreign nationals backing anti-American terrorist regimes.
In a broader action, Rubio also revoked the legal status of Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larijani, daughter of former Iranian official Ali Larijani, and her husband, Seyed Kalantar Motamedi, prohibiting their reentry into the U.S. Both individuals are no longer in the country. The State Department acknowledged the collaboration of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and ICE in ensuring American safety.
