The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has given the green light for the establishment of ‘Metro University’ in Greater Noida, focusing on enhancing higher education in the state. Spanning 26.1 acres, the university will offer modern educational tools and job-oriented courses to equip students for future challenges and boost employability.
This move, approved during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, marks a significant step towards expanding higher education opportunities in the state. The ‘Metro University’ is set to operate within the private sector, following the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2019, which regulates the establishment and operation of private universities.
Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay shared that the proposal for ‘Metro University’ was submitted by Sunhill Healthcare Private Limited in Noida, with the Greater Noida Authority allotting 26.1 acres of land for the purpose. The university’s establishment is expected to open up avenues for quality higher education, providing modern, job-oriented learning to the youth and positioning the state as an education leader.
Minister Upadhyay emphasized the government’s commitment, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, to expanding higher education, improving its quality, and encouraging private sector investments. He highlighted that the initiative will not only enhance educational opportunities but also create new prospects for employment and skill development within Uttar Pradesh.
