Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, recently met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. During the meeting, Dhami expressed gratitude for the Centre’s support in Uttarakhand’s development journey. He specifically thanked the Prime Minister for various initiatives and approvals benefiting the state, such as financial assistance for the Haridwar Kumbh 2027 and infrastructure projects like undergrounding electric lines in Rishikesh.
Dhami highlighted the progress made in positioning Uttarakhand as a global wedding destination. He mentioned the development of several locations and the formulation of a dedicated policy for wedding destinations. Additionally, he discussed the establishment of Spiritual Economic Zones and the surge in winter tourism activities, including adventure sports like river rafting and paragliding.
The Chief Minister emphasized the state’s focus on promoting indigenous products through initiatives like the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign. He also outlined various schemes aimed at boosting tourism, education, and rural livelihoods, such as ‘One District–One Fair’ and cluster schools. Dhami further requested enhanced connectivity measures, including the extension of the Regional Rapid Transit System and policy support for defense equipment manufacturing units in Uttarakhand.
