Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan visited Agartala as part of his first trip to Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura. He will speak at Tripura University’s 14th convocation. After attending Mizoram University’s convocation, he arrived in Agartala, where he was welcomed by several dignitaries including the Governor and Chief Minister.
Upon his arrival at the airport, Vice-President Radhakrishnan received a warm reception from top officials. He was also given a ceremonial guard of honor at Lok Bhavan. During his stay, he will meet with ‘Lakhpati Didis’ and Self Help Groups members before paying tribute to soldiers at a memorial park.
Elaborate security measures have been implemented for the Vice-President’s visit. The convocation ceremony, delayed for two years, will see the awarding of certificates, degrees, gold medals, and PhD degrees to deserving students. The event will be inaugurated by Vice-President Radhakrishnan at the university campus in Suryamaninagar.
Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Manik Saha, and the university’s Chancellor Ahmad Javed will also speak at the ceremony. Tripura University, established in 1987 and upgraded to a Central University in 2007, currently has 64 affiliated colleges. The Vice-President previously addressed Nagaland University’s convocation before his visit to Mizoram and Tripura.
