Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan is set to be the chief guest at the convocations of two central universities, Mizoram University and Tripura University, on March 7 and 8. He will address the 20th Convocation of Mizoram University on March 7 and the 14th Convocation of Tripura University on March 8. In Aizawl, Mizoram Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena led a preparatory meeting to ensure a smooth visit for the Vice-President. Various departments discussed their roles and coordinated efforts for the upcoming events.
The convocation ceremony at Tripura University, which could not be held in 2024 and 2025, will see the conferment of certificates, degrees, gold medals, and PhD degrees to eligible students. A total of 283 students will receive gold medals, and 149 research scholars will be awarded PhD degrees. The Vice-President will inaugurate the convocation ceremony at the university campus in Suryamaninagar, on the outskirts of Agartala. Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Manik Saha, and University Chancellor Ahmad Javed will also address the gathering.
Tripura University, established in October 1987 and upgraded to a Central University in 2007, currently has 64 affiliated colleges. The Union Ministry of Education is working to appoint a new Vice-Chancellor promptly.
