Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan is set to visit three Northeastern states for three days starting Friday. He will serve as the chief guest at the convocations of Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura central universities. In Nagaland, he will address the eighth convocation of Nagaland University in Lumami, Zunheboto district.
Officials have confirmed that Vice-President Radhakrishnan will also speak at the 20th convocation of Mizoram University on March 7. Following this, on March 8, he will attend and address the 14th convocation of Tripura University. In preparation for his visit, a meeting was held in Aizawl, Mizoram, chaired by Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena to review arrangements.
During his time in Tripura, the Vice-President will meet ‘Lakhpati Didis’ at the International Trade and Fair Centre in Hapania and pay respects at the Albert Ekka Memorial Park in Lichubagan. Elaborate security measures have been put in place by the police for his visit. The convocation ceremony at Tripura University, which could not be held in 2024 and 2025, will see the conferral of certificates, degrees, gold medals, and PhD degrees to deserving students.
The convocation ceremony will take place at the university campus in Suryamaninagar, on the outskirts of Agartala, with the presence of Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Manik Saha, and the university’s Chancellor Ahmad Javed. Established in October 1987, Tripura University was upgraded to a Central University in 2007. Currently, it has 64 affiliated colleges. The Ministry of Education is reportedly expediting the selection process for a new Vice-Chancellor.
