Actor-turned-politician Vijay escalated his efforts for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections by positioning the ruling DMK as his primary rival and advocating for a “whistle revolution.” In Tiruchy, after filing his nomination from Tiruchy East, Vijay emphasized a direct contest between his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and the DMK.
He disregarded other political groups as insignificant in the electoral battle, cautioning voters against trusting either the DMK or the BJP, stating they were indistinguishable. During a public event, Vijay paid tribute to former Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran and debuted his campaign song ‘Ungal Vijay,’ receiving a positive response from supporters.
Critiquing the DMK government for ineffectiveness and neglecting people’s daily challenges, Vijay urged citizens to vote for change, highlighting the election as a pivotal moment. He made emotional appeals to voters, portraying himself as a dedicated public servant ready to prioritize education, water supply, roads, and public transport if elected.
Outlining his commitments, Vijay proposed welfare initiatives like the “Annapoorani Super 6” scheme, promising free gas cylinders for women, financial aid for elderly women, and support for marriages. He pledged to enhance school facilities, criticized assistant professor recruitment limitations, and emphasized that the real competition was between the DMK and TVK.
