Actor-turned-politician and TVK leader Vijay is gearing up to restart his election campaign across the state following a stampede that disrupted activities in Karur district. The incident occurred during a rally in Veluchamipuram on September 27, 2025, injuring 41 people and prompting a temporary halt in the party’s programs.
After a brief hiatus, the party has now resumed its political operations with increased vigor. A special general council meeting was recently held in Mamallapuram under Vijay’s guidance to strengthen grassroots efforts and plan for the upcoming phase of the campaign leading up to the Assembly elections.
Vijay is now preparing for his next set of public outreach programs, starting with a major rally in Magudanchavadi, Salem district. The party has formally requested permission from the police for this event, marking Vijay’s return to large public gatherings in Tamil Nadu post the Karur mishap.
The upcoming rally in Salem holds significance as it was a campaign venue for former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa during the 2016 Assembly elections, adding symbolic importance to Vijay’s planned event. Despite a previous denial of permission due to security concerns, the party is confident in the safety measures for the upcoming rally.
