Actor-turned-politician Vijay presented a 10-point youth agenda, aiming to revolutionize opportunities for young people if Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) wins in Tamil Nadu. At an event in Nungambakkam, Vijay emphasized the agenda as a direct commitment to the state’s youth, focusing on employment, education, and governance reforms to address job scarcity concerns.
One of the key agenda points is the pledge to establish a “drug-free Tamil Nadu,” proposing strict laws to combat drug usage and inflow, along with community initiatives like anti-drug clubs in educational institutions for awareness and prevention.
Regarding education, Vijay introduced an “Education Guarantee Scheme” offering collateral-free loans up to Rs 20 lakh for higher studies, ensuring financial constraints do not hinder any student from pursuing education.
To tackle unemployment, Vijay suggested the Tamil Nadu Recruitment Accountability and Transparency Act, which includes a fixed annual calendar for government recruitments and financial aid for job seekers until appointments are finalized. The agenda also features a significant internship program for five lakh youth annually, providing stipends and promoting entrepreneurship through collateral-free loans and employment incentives.
In governance, Vijay proposed involving youth as “Chief Minister’s People Service Associates” in local bodies to enhance service delivery and establishing a Youth Advisory Council for youth participation in policy-making. The agenda also includes initiatives like the “Creator-preneur” project to support youth with seed capital and the establishment of specialized schools across the state.
Vijay stressed that each announcement aims to secure the future of Tamil Nadu’s youth, highlighting his party’s youth-centric approach ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
