Fast bowler Vijaykumar Vyshak impressed with three wickets, helping Punjab Kings limit Gujarat Titans to 162/6 in 20 overs during their first Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match at the PCA’s New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. In the opening innings, Gujarat Titans, after being asked to bat first, saw a strong start led by captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, reaching 35/0 by the end of the third over with a brisk scoring rate.
Punjab Kings’ Marco Jansen struck early by dismissing Sai Sudharsan for 13 runs off 11 balls in the fourth over. Gill, alongside Jos Buttler, then guided Gujarat Titans to 54/1 at the end of the Power-play, with Gill eventually anchoring the innings. However, Gill’s 39 off 27 balls innings was cut short in the 10th over by Yuzvendra Chahal.
Glenn Phillips accelerated the scoring in the 12th over but fell for 25 off 17 balls in the 14th over to Vyshak. Buttler’s 38 off 33 balls innings ended in the 16th over, followed by Washington Sundar’s dismissal for 18 off 16 balls in the 19th over. Vyshak stood out for Punjab Kings, taking 3 wickets for 34 runs in four overs, with Chahal also contributing with two crucial wickets.
