The West Bengal government has appointed Peeyush Pandey as the Acting Director General of state police, succeeding Rajeev Kumar, who is due to retire soon. Additionally, Suprateem Sarakr has been named as the new Kolkata Police Chief, currently serving as the Additional Director General of Police (South Bengal).
The reshuffle also includes Manoj Kumar Verma transitioning to the role of Director (Securities) from his current position as Kolkata Police Commissioner. Javed Shamim, the current Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), will now lead the Special Task Force.
Furthermore, Praveen Kumar Tripathi will take over as the Commissioner of Barrackpore Police Commissionerate from his current role as Commissioner of Howrah Police Commissionerate. Mukesh, the current Commissioner of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, is set to become the Inspector General of Murshidabad and Jangipur Range.
A series of appointments follow, with Amit P. Javalgi, Syed Waquar Raza, Kankar Prosad Barui, Shyam Singh, Alok Rajoria, Akash Magharia, Bhaskar Mukherjee, David lvan Lepcha, Gaurav Lal, and Koteswara Rao taking on new roles within the state police department.
