Yotta Data Services has announced the successful deployment of BHASHINI’s end-to-end sovereign AI cloud transformation on Yotta’s Government Community Cloud (GCC) and Shakti Cloud. This move ensures that BHASHINI now operates entirely on Indian cloud and GPU infrastructure, keeping language datasets, models, and citizen interactions within India’s jurisdiction.
The deployment showcases the migration of national digital public goods from hyperscaler environments to indigenous cloud infrastructure. It has resulted in significant performance improvement, cost savings, and sustained uptime. Notably, this achievement was accomplished without any data loss, covering over 200 TiB of data and 3.5 billion files.
The successful migration of BHASHINI to indigenous cloud and GPU platforms was highlighted at ‘The India AI Sovereignty Dialogues’, an official Pre-Summit Event of the AI Impact Summit 2026. Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MeitY, and CEO of IndiaAI Mission, emphasized the importance of building, scaling, and securing sovereign AI systems for public good within India’s unique requirements.
Amitabh Nag, CEO of Digital India BHASHINI Division, expressed that the transition to Yotta’s sovereign AI cloud provides BHASHINI with enhanced control, resilience, and scalability to cater to India’s linguistic diversity. This transformation strengthens the delivery of inclusive, real-time multilingual services and sets a precedent for future deployments towards a fully sovereign stack.
Yotta’s successful deployment of BHASHINI on Shakti Cloud signifies a significant milestone in India’s data sovereignty journey. The transition demonstrates that hyperscale, mission-critical AI platforms can be developed and operated entirely on sovereign infrastructure, without compromising on performance or security.
