A property dispute in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, turned tragic when a young man, Nirankar, allegedly used an axe to kill his father, mother, grandmother, and sister during an argument over family property. The incident, which occurred in Ramnagar village, resulted in the death of all four family members due to severe injuries. Nirankar’s elder brother also sustained serious injuries while trying to intervene in the violent altercation.
According to police reports, the dispute stemmed from a financial transaction involving the recent sale of a piece of land by Nirankar’s father. Nirankar was demanding a share of the money from the sale, leading to a heated argument that escalated into the fatal attack. Superintendent of Police (Rural) D.P. Tiwari stated that Nirankar, in a fit of rage, attacked his family members with a sharp-edged weapon, resulting in the tragic outcome.
Following the violent episode, Nirankar attempted to take his own life by hitting his head with a brick, causing him to lose consciousness due to excessive bleeding. Neighbors alerted the police, who promptly responded and transported the injured individuals to the district hospital. Due to Nirankar’s critical condition, he was later transferred to a hospital in Lucknow for advanced medical care. The authorities have taken Nirankar into custody, and legal proceedings are underway.
Rakesh Singh, the Public Relations Officer for Superintendent of Police Ramnayan Singh, confirmed that the bodies of the deceased family members have been sent for post-mortem examination. Additionally, a forensic team visited the crime scene to gather evidence, recovering the axe used in the attack and a blood-stained brick. Villagers mentioned that the family, consisting of two brothers, parents, grandmother, and sister, had no known disputes with anyone in the village, emphasizing that the incident was a tragic family matter.
As a precautionary measure, additional police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel have been stationed in the village to uphold law and order. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation, interviewing family members and neighbors to establish a clear understanding of the sequence of events leading to the fatal altercation.
The incident in Bahraich follows a recent crime in Lucknow on February 24, where a 19-year-old youth fatally shot his father amid tensions over the youth’s career and pressure to clear the NEET examination. Police noted that conflicts had been brewing between the father and son prior to the tragic event.
