Google-owned video platform YouTube announced on Wednesday that it has fixed a global outage that affected many users. The homepage has been restored, but work is ongoing for a complete resolution. An issue with the recommendations system caused videos to disappear from various YouTube surfaces.
The outage led to over 320,000 user complaints worldwide, with India reporting nearly 20,000 complaints primarily from app users. In the United States, more than 320,000 users experienced outages, with YouTube TV and Google also facing issues. YouTube’s parent company, Alphabet, recently surpassed $400 billion in annual revenues, with its Gemini AI app garnering over 750 million monthly active users.
During Alphabet’s quarterly earnings call, CEO Sundar Pichai mentioned the success of Gemini Enterprise, with over 8 million paid seats sold in just four months. The company is observing increased user engagement post the Gemini 3 launch, attributing it to AI investments and infrastructure driving revenue growth. Alphabet’s 2026 capex investments are projected to be between $175 to $185 billion.
