The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has filed a complaint with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting regarding a Telugu news channel accused of airing defamatory and derogatory content. The complaint, submitted by YSRCP MLC Lella Appireddy, calls for immediate action against ABN Andhra Jyothi for allegedly spreading misleading and unethical content targeting the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, and the YSR Congress Party. The party alleges that the channel’s broadcast was intended to tarnish reputations and incite prejudice among viewers.
The complaint highlights objectionable language used by the anchor to describe YSR Congress Party members and supporters. The YSRCP claims that the channel portrayed party supporters as blindly following Jagan Mohan Reddy and used abusive and derogatory terms. The broadcast repeatedly depicted party leaders and members as lacking intelligence and rationality, labeling their political positions as “insane” or “mad” proposals, and portraying the leadership as a group of “mad persons.”
YSRCP state spokesperson Karumuri Venkata Reddy accused certain sections of the media, including ABN Andhra Jyothi, of spreading misinformation to divert attention from the growing support for Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s MAVIGUN capital corridor proposal. Reddy emphasized the advantages of the MAVIGUN corridor, citing its potential as a low-cost capital alternative with robust infrastructure benefits, such as port access, national highways, railway junctions, and proximity to an international airport. He argued that developing the MAVIGUN region into an urban hub would be economically feasible compared to the massive expenditure required for Amaravati’s infrastructure development.
