Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has appointed Richard Ngarava as the new captain for both Test and One-Day International (ODI) formats, with Brian Bennett as vice-captain. The decision was made during the ZC Board’s fourth-quarter meeting in Harare. Ngarava, a left-arm fast bowler, takes over from Craig Ervine, who led the team through a crucial rebuilding phase. Tavengwa Mukuhlani, ZC chairman, praised the new leadership team and acknowledged Ervine’s contributions. Ngarava, who debuted internationally in 2017, is a vital part of Zimbabwe’s bowling lineup and has excelled in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Bennett, a young all-rounder, has also shown promise with milestones in Test and ODI cricket. These appointments align with ZC’s strategy to build a competitive national team for the future.
