Food delivery giants Zomato and Blinkit, led by CEO Deepinder Goyal, achieved remarkable delivery milestones on New Year’s Eve despite strike threats. Goyal praised the smooth operations aided by local authorities, ensuring minimal disruptions. Over 4.5 lakh delivery partners collectively fulfilled 75 lakh orders for 63 lakh customers nationwide, setting a new delivery record.
Goyal highlighted that these achievements were attained without offering extra incentives to the delivery partners. He noted that unlike previous years, no special incentives were provided this New Year’s Eve, emphasizing the seamless operations. Expressing gratitude, Goyal commended the local authorities and on-ground teams for their swift coordination, enabling efficient services during the busy period.
Acknowledging the dedication of the delivery partners who worked diligently despite challenges, Goyal appreciated their commitment to honest work and progress. He addressed concerns regarding the gig economy, asserting that its ability to attract and retain a large workforce indicates its fairness. Goyal cautioned against biased narratives and highlighted the gig economy’s role as a significant job creator in India.
