Amit Rai, the filmmaker behind the thought-provoking OMG franchise, returns with an entirely different kind of film — one that swaps courtroom drama for paw prints and turns the spotlight on the purest bond of all: the one between humans and dogs. “Ohh My Dog” released in theatres on 7 August 2026, and it is a rare Hindi film that lets an indie dog steal the show while still delivering an engaging investigative drama at its core.

“Ohh My Dog” is a heartfelt, investigative drama that follows two parallel stories of loyalty and love — one in Assam where young Apu searches for his missing dog Momo, and another in Bhopal where a street dog named Bruno relentlessly hunts for his missing human companion, Prince. Directed by Amit Rai, the film blends emotion, mystery and social messaging on compassion towards animals, anchored by a genuinely spectacular canine performance and heartfelt human turns from Pankaj Tripathi and Maahi Rai. With its universal message, gorgeous visuals and a hero on four legs who commands the screen like a true action star, “Ohh My Dog” is a moving, feel-good watch for the whole family.

Plot Summary

The film unfolds across two parallel tracks. In Assam, young Apu and his beloved pet dog Momo share an inseparable bond — until Momo is suddenly kidnapped, allegedly by a gang involved in the dog meat trade. With the authorities showing little urgency, Apu takes it upon himself to track down his missing companion. Meanwhile, in Bhopal, an underage labourer named Prince shares a similar unbreakable friendship with a street dog named Bruno. When Prince mysteriously disappears, it is Bruno who refuses to give up, turning detective on four legs and leading a desperate, instinct-driven search to find him. The two storylines intertwine into an investigative drama fuelled entirely by canine loyalty, devotion and unconditional love.

Performances — Every Actor Shines

Pankaj Tripathi brings his trademark warmth and gravity to the role of Masterji, grounding the film’s emotional core with a performance that feels effortless and deeply lived-in. He remains one of the most reliable actors working in Hindi cinema today, and this film is no exception.

Maahi Rai, as Apu, delivers a wonderfully natural and endearing performance, carrying a significant emotional weight of the film on his young shoulders with impressive maturity and screen presence.

Nikhil Kumar as Prince brings sincerity and heart to his role, making the audience genuinely invest in his character’s fate and his bond with Bruno.

Pawan Malhotra, Rajesh Kumar, Geeta Aggarwal Sharma, Jitendra Joshi, Sulakhyana Baruah and Vijay Mishra round out a strong supporting cast, each adding authenticity and texture to the film’s world.

And then there’s the real showstopper — Bruno and Momo, the indie canine stars, who deliver performances so expressive and heartfelt that they outshine many human action heroes. Complete with slow-motion entries, thrilling chases and gravity-defying jumps, their screen presence is nothing short of remarkable.
