Language: Hindi
Age Rating: UA
Genre: Romantic Comedy, Family Drama

In this Param Sundari movie review, we dive into Tushar Jalota’s vibrant romantic comedy that blends tradition, culture, and youthful energy with the timeless magic of love. With Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor leading the charge, this breezy entertainer celebrates everything from cross-cultural bonds to family drama, from comic timing to heartfelt emotions.

Plot: Love Beyond Borders

The story revolves around Param (Sidharth Malhotra), an ambitious yet reckless Delhi lad whose father (Sanjay Kapoor) has grown weary of his failed ventures. In one last attempt to prove himself, Param decides to back an app designed by Shekhar (Abhishek Banerjee), one that promises to find the “perfect soulmate.”

But there’s a catch: Param’s father agrees to invest only if the app works for Param himself. To his surprise, the app matches him with Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor), a homestay owner from Kerala. Determined to win his father’s support, Param travels to Kerala with his loyal friend Juggi (Manjot Singh)—and what begins as a transactional plan soon blossoms into a heartfelt romance.

However, as Param discovers Sundari’s dreams and vulnerabilities, guilt seeps in. Can love survive when built on secrets and cultural divides?

Performances: A Film Where Everyone Shines

  • Sidharth Malhotra as Param – Sidharth looks dashing and delivers one of his most charming performances to date. His comedic timing, dramatic intensity, and romantic sincerity make Param both flawed and endearing.
  • Janhvi Kapoor as Sundari – Janhvi once again proves her versatility. Her Sundari is warm, grounded, and brimming with sincerity. She effortlessly lights up every scene, whether in humorous banter or emotional depth.
  • Manjot Singh as Juggi – A scene-stealer! His loyal, funny sidekick act adds freshness and laughter, balancing the emotional highs with witty relief.
  • Sanjay Kapoor as Param’s Father – Though in a smaller role, he contributes to the generational conflict in the story. His presence provides a corporate-family dimension.
  • Renji Panicker as Bhargavan Nair – Excellent and convincing, he adds gravitas as a symbolic father figure on Sundari’s side.
  • Siddhartha Shankar as Venu – A restrained yet effective portrayal of Sundari’s childhood friend.
  • Inayat Verma as Sundari’s Sister – Delightful and candid, her moments with Janhvi feel authentic and add a personal, heartfelt touch.
  • Supporting Ensemble – Every actor, from local Keralite characters to Abhishek Banerjee’s brief role as the app designer, contributes meaningfully, making the film feel wholesome and rooted.

This is one of those rare films where no actor feels wasted. Each performance adds a brushstroke to the larger canvas of the story.

Direction & Writing

Debutant director Tushar Jalota shows promise, blending frothy romance with culture-clash comedy. While the screenplay (co-written with Gaurav Mishra and Aarsh Vora) occasionally feels stretched, the heart of the story remains intact.

The Kerala sequences, including Param’s first jog, the hilarious parantha-language mix-up, and the ring-and-elephant moment, sparkle with creativity. Some tropes—like Sundari’s sacrifice or the airport scene—may feel familiar, but Jalota’s treatment ensures they still entertain.

Technical Brilliance

  • Cinematography (Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran): Stunning frames that capture Kerala’s lush beauty while balancing the bustling energy of Param’s world.
  • Production Design (Manini Mishra & Sharanya Menon): Authentic yet vibrant, the sets feel lived-in and culturally rich.
  • Editing (Manish Pradhan): Could have been sharper, as the film occasionally dips in pace.
  • Music (Sachin-Jigar with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya): The soundtrack may not be timeless, but “Pardesiya” and “Chand Kaagaz” stand out, while “Sun Mere Yaar Ve” lingers beautifully.

Strengths and Weaknesses

What Works:

  • Crackling chemistry between Sidharth & Janhvi
  • Breezy, feel-good romantic sequences
  • Cultural diversity portrayed with humor and heart
  • Fantastic supporting performances (especially Manjot Singh & Renji Panicker)
  • Visually captivating cinematography

What Could Have Been Better:

  • A few unnecessary tropes (airport climax, sacrificial love angle)
  • Slightly overlong runtime

Social Relevance

Beyond its romance, Param Sundari reflects the fusion of tradition and modernity. By juxtaposing Delhi’s urban ambition with Kerala’s grounded simplicity, it subtly celebrates cultural differences while showing that love is the universal bridge.

Final Verdict:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 Stars)

Param Sundari is a delightful modern romance filled with laughter, culture, and heartfelt moments. With Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s sizzling chemistry, colorful storytelling, and strong supporting performances, it’s the kind of film that rekindles the old-school magic of “pyar-ishq-mohabbat” while staying relevant to today’s audience.

Should You Watch It? Definitely! If you’re a fan of lighthearted romances with charm and cultural flavor, Param Sundari is your perfect weekend watch.
