JioHotstar’s latest offering, Pritam and Pedro, brings together an old-school cop and a tech-savvy young man in a light-hearted buddy-cop drama set against the sunny backdrop of Goa. Backed by Rajkumar Hirani’s signature warmth and directed by Avinash Arun, the series blends humour, heart, and a simple cyber-crime mystery into an immensely entertaining watch. With Arshad Warsi in top form and debutant Vir Hirani holding his own alongside him, this show is a breezy, feel-good binge that earns every bit of its 5-star rating.

Pritam and Pedro is a charming, humour-filled buddy-cop series that pairs a veteran crime branch officer with a young cyber whiz to crack a high-stakes kidnapping case in Goa. Arshad Warsi and debutant Vir Hirani share terrific chemistry, ably supported by Vikrant Massey’s menacing antagonist and Mona Singh’s understated performance. Directed by Avinash Arun and produced under the Rajkumar Hirani banner, the show trades dark, twisty thrills for warmth, wit, and easy entertainment, making it a perfect weekend watch for the whole family.

Plot Summary

The story kicks off with a quirky ATM heist carried out by thieves disguised in hijabs, setting a tone that’s equal parts ridiculous and fun. Pritam, a quiet young man skilled with computers, lands in police custody over a stolen radio, only to catch the attention of Pedro, a crime branch officer investigating the ATM theft. When Pritam cracks the case in minutes using nothing but a borrowed laptop, an unlikely partnership is born. The two are soon pulled into a bigger challenge when a minister’s son is kidnapped, forcing the technology-averse Pedro to lean on Pritam’s digital skills to crack the case together.

Performances

Arshad Warsi is effortlessly brilliant as Pedro, bringing depth and genuine emotion to a character that could easily have been a one-note joke. He makes Pedro’s frustration, humour, and quiet vulnerability feel completely real.

Vir Hirani, in his acting debut, is a revelation. He underplays Pritam with remarkable confidence, holding his own screen presence next to a veteran like Warsi without ever feeling out of place.

Vikrant Massey surprises everyone by stepping away from his usual earnest roles to play a cold, calculating cybercriminal. His restrained menace adds real weight to the show’s key moments.

Mona Singh brings quiet emotional depth to Stacey, portraying a marriage shaped by shared loss with subtlety and grace, rounding out Pedro’s character beautifully.

Boman Irani, though appearing briefly, leaves a strong impression and makes the audience wish for more screen time.
