Language: Hindi
Age Rating: U/A
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Family

In this Son of Sardaar 2 movie review, we take a joyride through a masala-packed comedy that blends mistaken identities, family drama, and slapstick chaos. With Ajay Devgn at the helm and a talented ensemble cast, this standalone sequel delivers hearty laughs, warm moments, and over-the-top entertainment that fans of the genre will appreciate.

Plot: When Pretending Gets Personal

The story centers on Jassi (Ajay Devgn), a lovable Sardar who finally joins his wife (Neeru Bajwa) in the UK after waiting 13 years for a visa—only to be hit with a surprise divorce request. His new life takes a wild turn when he meets Rabia (Mrunal Thakur), a wedding choreographer abandoned by her con-artist husband.

Through a series of quirky twists, Jassi ends up impersonating Rabia’s husband and posing as a war hero to help win over the family of her stepdaughter’s suitor. But things escalate quickly when the groom’s father, Raja (Ravi Kishan), a strict traditionalist with a dislike for dancers and Pakistanis, becomes suspicious. Alongside his brothers Titu (Vindu Dara Singh) and Tony (Mukul Dev), Raja launches a comical investigation into Jassi’s background, leading to a series of laugh-out-loud and high-stakes moments.

Performances: Everyone Brings the House Down

Ajay Devgn brings effortless charm and impeccable comic timing to Jassi. Whether he’s mimicking war heroes in an outrageous Bollywood tribute or navigating emotionally charged family scenes, Devgn strikes the perfect balance between goofy and grounded.

Mrunal Thakur shines as Rabia. Her confident, spunky presence lights up the screen, offering a great contrast to Devgn’s more understated performance. She brings both fire and heart to the character, making Rabia more than just a sidekick in the chaos.

Ravi Kishan is in top form as the intimidating Raja. His comedic timing, especially in the scenes where he tries to assert dominance while facing off with Devgn, is one of the film’s highlights. Mukul Dev and Vindu Dara Singh make a memorable duo as Raja’s over-enthusiastic brothers, keeping the momentum alive with their antics.

Though Deepak Dobriyal and Sanjay Mishra are underused, their brief appearances still bring flair to the narrative. The camaraderie between all supporting characters enriches the ensemble energy.

Direction, Writing, and Comedy Beats

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film keeps its tone unapologetically over-the-top. With writing by Jagdeep Singh Sidhu and Mohit Jain, Son of Sardaar 2 makes no effort to hide its mass appeal intentions. While the storyline is intentionally far-fetched, it plays well within the realm of high-energy family entertainers.

Not all gags land, and some slapstick moments may feel dated—like a random Russian grandmother doing a pole dance—but these are balanced by genuinely hilarious sequences, such as Jassi’s recreation of scenes from the movie Border. The film never takes itself too seriously, and that works to its benefit.

Music & Cinematography: Designed for the Masses

The music serves as colorful fillers between comedic beats. While no track truly stands out musically, the dance sequences are vibrant and carry the festive tone of the film. Costumes and set designs reflect the film’s loud personality, making it visually engaging.

Cinematographer Amalendu Chaudhary captures the exaggerated world with flair—bouncing from lavish wedding halls to chaotic households with energy and rhythm.

What Works:

  • Ajay Devgn’s impeccable comic performance
  • Mrunal Thakur’s commanding presence
  • Ravi Kishan’s solid comic antagonism
  • Nostalgia and clever Bollywood parodies
  • Bright, colorful production design

What Could Be Better:

  • Overstuffed narrative with too many subplots
  • Some jokes feel stretched or outdated
  • Talented actors like Deepak Dobriyal feel wasted

Entertainment Value: Who Will Enjoy This?

If you’re a fan of loud Punjabi family comedies, over-the-top disguises, and movies that don’t apologize for being massy entertainers—Son of Sardaar 2 is made for you. It may not win awards for subtlety, but it will definitely make you chuckle and cheer.

Final Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (4.5/5 Stars)

Son of Sardaar 2 is a full-on fun ride with a solid emotional undercurrent. Thanks to Ajay Devgn’s effortless humor, Mrunal Thakur’s energy, and a colorful supporting cast, this sequel hits the right beats for those seeking feel-good cinema. It’s messy, yes—but entertaining till the end.

Should You Watch It?

Yes, if you’re in the mood for some comic madness! It’s family-friendly, high on drama, and sprinkled with desi flair. Just park your logic at the door and enjoy the mayhem.
