Building a Healthier India: Konstantin Riabtsev on Modernizing India’s Healthcare

Konstantin Riabtsev

Healthcare is undergoing a massive transformation worldwide, and India is no exception. With the rise of digital solutions and innovative healthcare services, more people are gaining access to quality medical care. In a recent episode of the Indian Community Podcast, hosts Amit Gupta and Rahul Mea had an insightful conversation with Konstantin Riabtsev, CEO and co-founder of Lifetime Health. Konstantin shared his journey, the inspiration behind his venture, and how Lifetime Health is making a significant impact in India’s healthcare landscape.

Konstantin Riabtsev‘s Journey to Founding Lifetime Health

Konstantin Riabtsev’s passion for healthcare began at a young age. At 18, he underwent heart surgery and encountered the inefficiencies in the healthcare system firsthand. The need to manage his medical records, find the right specialists, and navigate the complex system highlighted the gaps in the industry. This experience fueled his vision to create a seamless healthcare experience for patients.

With a background in product and marketing, Konstantin worked at VK, the second-largest social network in the world. His expertise in digital transformation gave him a unique perspective on how industries were evolving, especially in areas like food delivery and e-commerce. However, he noticed that healthcare was lagging.

Driven by the desire to bring efficiency and convenience to the healthcare sector, he co-founded Lifetime Health with a mission to digitize healthcare services, making medical consultations, prescriptions, and treatments more accessible to patients across India.

Why India? The Decision Behind Entering the Indian Market

Having lived in Russia and the Czech Republic, Konstantin was familiar with the challenges of regulated healthcare systems. While searching for a market with a high impact potential, India stood out due to its large population and fragmented healthcare system.

During his visit to India, he noticed that 80% of healthcare services were provided by small clinics that lacked digital records or modern equipment. Many doctors did not use laptops and relied solely on handwritten prescriptions, often focusing only on short-term treatments. There was a clear gap in long-term patient care, rehabilitation, and digital medical record-keeping.

Konstantin saw an opportunity to transform healthcare accessibility in India by leveraging technology to connect patients with quality medical care, ensuring that essential services were streamlined and more efficient.

How Lifetime Health is Transforming Indian Healthcare

Lifetime Health aims to bridge the gap between traditional healthcare practices and modern digital solutions. Their platform offers a digital workplace for doctors, allowing them to maintain patient records, issue digital prescriptions, and track treatments seamlessly. Here’s how Lifetime Health is making a difference:

1. Digital Integration for Doctors

  • Provides a free digital platform for doctors to maintain patient records and issue prescriptions.
  • Enables seamless communication between doctors and patients for ongoing treatment and follow-ups.

2. At-Home Healthcare Services

  • Offers physiotherapy, injections, fluid courses, and post-surgery rehabilitation at home.
  • Helps elderly and chronic disease patients receive quality healthcare without traveling long distances.

3. Real-World Impact: A Success Story

One of the most inspiring cases was a 70-year-old bedridden patient who underwent physiotherapy through Lifetime Health. Within weeks, he regained mobility, much to the surprise and joy of his family. This transformation reinforced the importance of personalized and continuous care at home.

What Sets Lifetime Health Apart from Other Healthcare Startups?

With numerous healthcare startups emerging, what makes Lifetime Health different? According to Konstantin, technology and quality control are the key differentiators:

1. Fully Digital Approach

Unlike traditional healthcare providers, Lifetime Health is built as a tech-first company. Patients, doctors, and medical staff all have dedicated apps that facilitate smooth operations. Patients can:

  • Book and cancel appointments online
  • Access their medical records instantly
  • Compare and choose services based on their needs

2. Standardized Quality Control

One major issue in Indian healthcare is inconsistent quality, especially in disposable medical supplies. Some providers ask nurses to buy supplies from nearby pharmacies, leading to potential safety risks.

Lifetime Health ensures:

  • All disposables are pre-approved and standardized
  • One-time use supplies for each service to maintain hygiene and safety

3. Specialized Training for Medical Staff

Many healthcare providers do not invest in proper training for nurses and doctors. Konstantin shared that some professionals still collect blood samples using syringes instead of vacuum tubes, affecting test accuracy.

Lifetime Health collaborates with international experts to develop industry-standard guidelines, ensuring their medical staff is well-trained and up to date with the latest best practices.

Future Plans: Expanding Across India

Since launching in January in South Bangalore, Lifetime Health has been growing rapidly. They are now expanding to Marathahalli, with plans to cover all of Bangalore within the next three to four months. With their first 1,000 orders completed, the company is set for exponential growth in the coming years.

Konstantin and his team are committed to making healthcare more accessible, affordable, and efficient, ensuring that every patient gets the quality care they deserve.
