Bollywood fans are in for a nostalgic treat as one of the most beloved romantic dramas, Dhadkan, is set to return to cinemas in a digitally remastered format. The film, originally released in August 2000, is making a grand comeback on May 23, 2025, bringing back memories of timeless love, heartbreak, and melodious music.

A Classic Love Triangle That Defined an Era

Directed by Dharmesh Darshan, Dhadkan features a compelling storyline that revolves around Anjali (played by Shilpa Shetty), a woman torn between her past and present. While her heart initially beats for the passionate and intense Dev (Suniel Shetty), societal pressure forces her into a marriage with the noble and soft-spoken Ram (Akshay Kumar). Years later, as Dev re-enters her life, the emotional turmoil resurfaces, testing loyalties and love.

The film’s narrative explores deep emotional conflicts, making it resonate with audiences across generations. Its themes of sacrifice, transformation, and enduring love continue to strike a chord even 25 years after its first release.

Digitally Remastered for a New Generation

What makes this re-release special is the enhanced viewing experience. The digitally remastered version promises crisper visuals, improved sound quality, and a cinematic feel that aims to reintroduce the film to a new generation while offering longtime fans a refreshed experience on the big screen.

The Music That Became a Cultural Phenomenon

No mention of Dhadkan is complete without talking about its legendary music. Composed by the iconic duo Nadeem–Shravan with lyrics by Sameer, the film’s soundtrack became one of the biggest musical hits of the 2000s. Songs like “Tum Dil Ki Dhadkan Mein,” “Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se,” and “Na Na Karte” became instant classics and are still cherished by fans today.

An Ensemble Cast That Delivered Powerhouse Performances

Alongside the lead trio, the film featured seasoned performers such as Sharmila Tagore, Parmeet Sethi, Kiran Kumar, and Sushma Seth. Their impactful supporting roles added gravitas to the narrative, making the film a well-rounded emotional journey.

Why This Re-Release Matters

The re-release of Dhadkan is more than a cinematic event; it’s a celebration of Bollywood’s golden era of romantic storytelling. At a time when remakes dominate the industry, bringing back a classic in its original form is a refreshing nod to timeless filmmaking.

As audiences prepare to relive the emotional rollercoaster of Dhadkan, this theatrical return reminds us why the film has remained etched in our hearts for over two decades. Whether you’re watching it for the first time or revisiting old memories, this is one cinematic experience that promises to strike the heartstrings once again.

Dhadkan will be screened in select theatres across India from May 23, 2025. Don’t miss the chance to witness this iconic love story on the big screen once more.
