On his birthday, actor and filmmaker Rishab Shetty gave fans a powerful surprise — the official poster for his highly anticipated prequel, Kantara: Chapter 1. The newly released image, shared by Hombale Films, sets the tone for what appears to be a gritty and mystical fantasy epic that builds on the legacy of the 2022 blockbuster Kantara.

Rishab Shetty’s Intense Transformation

The poster captures Rishab Shetty in an electrifying new look — sword in hand, bearded, and battle-worn, echoing the energy of a tribal warrior on a divine mission. With wild hair, blood on his face, and a look of rage burning through his eyes, Shetty’s transformation hints at a darker and more primal chapter of the Kantara universe.

This warrior avatar suggests that Chapter 1 will delve deep into the origins of the legend introduced in the first film — a time where gods and men clashed and faith guided action. The poster alone evokes a cinematic world teeming with power, ritual, and rebellion.

A Prequel with a Purpose

Serving as a prequel to the 2022 cultural phenomenon, Kantara: Chapter 1 promises to explore the backstory and ancient roots of the tale that captivated millions. Unlike the quiet forest mystery of the original film, this chapter is expected to be more expansive — a mythological war drama where mysticism meets battlefield.

Rishab Shetty not only returns as the lead but also continues as the writer and director, ensuring narrative continuity and creative integrity.

Grand Scale, Global Vision

Behind the camera, Hombale Films is investing in ambitious scale and spectacle. Reports suggest that the film features extensive war sequences with more than 500 trained fighters and a total cast involving over 3,000 performers. The production team has collaborated with both Indian and international stunt coordinators to craft battle scenes that blend raw realism with mythic intensity.

Release Date and Festive Timing

Kantara: Chapter 1 is set to release worldwide on October 2, 2025, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra — a symbolic date that aligns well with the film’s themes of dharma, divinity, and justice.

Despite early production hurdles — including a boat capsizing incident and interruptions due to legal notices — the team has confirmed that the film remains on track for its grand release.

Legacy of Kantara

The original Kantara was a critical and commercial triumph, earning Rishab Shetty the Best Actor award and recognition at the 70th National Film Awards as the Best Popular Film for Wholesome Entertainment. With Chapter 1, the stakes are even higher, and expectations are soaring.

Hombale Films, also known for mega releases like KGF and Salaar, is committed to expanding the Kantara universe, crafting a legacy that blends folklore, action, and cinema with soul.

The unveiling of the Kantara Chapter 1 poster is more than just a marketing moment — it marks the beginning of a larger cinematic journey. With Rishab Shetty leading the charge, fans can expect a film rich in culture, conflict, and storytelling power.
