Four years after the original film charmed audiences, Gatta Kusthi 2 brings back the beloved wrestling couple Veera and Keerthi for a fresh round in the ring — this time with parenthood, career ambitions, and family bonds taking center stage. Directed by Chella Ayyavu and led once again by Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi, the sequel expands the universe of the franchise by bringing their daughter Mathi Malar into the story, blending comedy, drama, and sport into a package built for family viewing.

Gatta Kusthi 2 reunites Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi as Veera and Keerthi, a wrestling couple now navigating parenthood alongside their daughter Mathi Malar. The film balances comedy, emotional drama, and sporting drama as the family works through disagreements about ambition, upbringing, and staying true to themselves. With energetic performances, a nostalgic callback to the first film’s charm, and a few genuinely heartfelt moments — especially between Keerthi and her father — Gatta Kusthi 2 delivers a breezy watch for fans of feel-good, sports-flavored family entertainers.

Plot Summary

Gatta Kusthi 2 picks up years after Veera (Vishnu Vishal) promises to support his wife Keerthi’s (Aishwarya Lekshmi) wrestling career. Veera has settled into the role of a devoted house husband while Keerthi juggles her career and the sport she loves. Their world gets a shake-up when they realize their daughter, Mathi Malar, isn’t drawn to sports and is struggling academically. As Veera and Keerthi clash over how to raise their daughter, old cracks in their marriage resurface, pushing the family toward a turning point. Along the way, the film explores questions of ambition, trust, and what it really means to let your child choose their own path — building toward a wrestling-ring climax between husband and wife.

Performances

Vishnu Vishal slips comfortably back into the role of Veera, bringing warmth and easy humor to a house husband trying to hold his family together. His comic timing, especially in the domestic and neighborhood scenes, keeps the film’s lighter moments engaging.

Aishwarya Lekshmi is the heart of Gatta Kusthi 2, delivering a performance full of conviction as Keerthi. She commands every frame she’s in, bringing both physical intensity to the wrestling sequences and emotional depth to Keerthi’s journey as a mother and athlete balancing it all.

Munishkanth, as Ramdoss, adds his reliable comic energy to the ensemble, rounding out the film’s family and neighborhood dynamic with familiar charm.

Karunas and Kaali Venkat bring their signature comic flair to the film, with their scenes in the back half landing some of the film’s biggest laughs and giving the climax portions extra energy.

Mokksha, in a supporting role as Mathi Malar’s teacher, adds a fresh face to the cast and holds her own alongside the film’s established performers.

Sean Roldan’s score complements the film’s family entertainer tone, underscoring both the comedic beats and the more emotional father-daughter and husband-wife moments with an easy, hummable touch.

Editing

Barath Vikraman keeps the film moving at a steady clip, stitching together the domestic comedy, sporting drama, and family conflict threads into a cohesive watch.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths:

  • Aishwarya Lekshmi’s committed, powerhouse performance as Keerthi
  • Vishnu Vishal’s easy comic charm as the house husband Veera
  • Karunas and Kaali Venkat’s comic timing lifts the climax portions
  • A genuinely warm father-daughter conversation stretch involving Keerthi and her father
  • Energetic wrestling sequences that recapture the sporting spirit of the original

Weaknesses:

  • Some of the comedy in the middle portions doesn’t land as consistently as the first film
  • The teacher subplot feels like a detour from the central family story
  • At two hours and 34 minutes, a tighter runtime could have sharpened the pacing

Final Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5
