Language: Hindi
Age Rating: U/A (Suitable for viewers above 13 years)
Genre: Tech Thriller / Psychological Drama
Streaming on: Zee5 (From April 18, 2025)

Amit Goolani’s Logout is a sharp and unsettling dive into the world of digital addiction, influencer culture, and the cost of online fame. Led by Babil Khan in a career-defining performance, the film mixes suspense with social commentary to craft a gripping, tech-fueled thriller that reflects the chaos behind curated lives.

With elements of identity theft, obsession, and emotional unraveling, Logout offers a timely narrative about how validation in the form of likes and shares can slowly erode real identity and sanity.

Plot Overview

At the center of Logout is Pratyush (Babil Khan), a rising social media influencer on the brink of reaching 10 million followers. Living off filtered posts, motivational captions, and flawless selfies, he appears to have it all.

But when his phone is stolen just as he’s about to cross his biggest career milestone, his digital life spins out of control. An obsessed fan hacks his account, posts as him, and begins dismantling everything he built—follower by follower, secret by secret. As Pratyush scrambles to take back his identity, he confronts the terrifying realization that his online persona might be stronger than the real him.

What Works

✅ Babil Khan’s Stellar Performance
Babil brings emotional intensity and subtle vulnerability to Pratyush. From confident influencer to someone spiraling into paranoia, his transformation is powerful and convincing.

✅ Relevant & Reflective Theme
Logout shines in its dissection of influencer culture and digital validation. It makes you question your relationship with your phone and the personas we build online.

✅ Thrilling Psychological Tension
As the fan gains control, the suspense builds effectively. The film captures how terrifying it can be to lose control over one’s identity in a tech-obsessed world.

✅ Dark but Grounded Storytelling
The film doesn’t shy away from the psychological toll of being constantly online. The family angle, especially Pratyush’s strained bond with his father, adds depth and humanity to the digital chaos.

What Falls Short

❌ Predictable in Parts
Some moments feel familiar, echoing previous films on digital addiction and online personas. The arc of an influencer losing it all isn’t new, though the execution feels fresh.

❌ Underwhelming Supporting Role
Rasika Dugal, in the role of Pratyush’s sister, doesn’t get enough screen time or substance. Her character feels like a missed opportunity.

Performances

🎭 Babil Khan (Pratyush): A breakout role. He brings the emotional collapse of a digital star to life with conviction and heart.
🎭 Rasika Dugal: Underused, but adds gravitas when present.
🎭 Supporting Cast: Effective but largely in the background, keeping the spotlight on Babil’s performance.

Technical Aspects

🎥 Cinematography: Dark hues and tight framing build tension and reflect the psychological isolation of the protagonist.
🎵 Music: Atmospheric and brooding. The background score intensifies the paranoia and sense of urgency.
✂️ Editing: Tense and quick-paced in the first half, though slightly stretched in the latter parts.
🎬 Direction: Amit Goolani presents a smart, cautionary tale with a pulse on modern anxieties around social media and identity.

Final Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)

Logout is a compelling psychological thriller that taps into the modern-day curse of digital overexposure. While it’s not entirely groundbreaking, its strong central performance, eerie tone, and timely message make it worth your time.

If you’ve ever measured your worth by online numbers or felt anxious without your phone—Logout will hit uncomfortably close to home.

Watch it on Zee5 starting April 18!
